As part of our on-going commitment to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy we’re very pleased to announce that we’ve been awarded the waste reduction certification by The Carbon Trust. This is the result of a 10.2% reduction in waste since 2010.
This certification has been awarded for waste reduction year-on-year both here and at our dedicated manufacturing site, Deli Solutions. With all staff embracing our internal recycling policy for food and waste streams, we’ve been able to make our business zero to landfill – which has been a huge contribution to our
Our levels of water and carbon have also been verified to set a benchmark for reduction of both, by 5%, over the next two years. We’ve also committed to further reduce waste by this percentage too.
So what does this mean?
1. That we’re reducing the impact our business places on the environment.
2. That sustainability and waste reduction are a natural part of our NPD process.
3. That we’re fully committed to reducing levels of water, carbon and waste.
4. We’re jointly leading the field within our industry.
Chief Executive Officer, Steven Higginson, says of our certification:
“Less than 2 years ago we started to refine our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and challenged ourselves as a business in what we could achieve by reducing the impact our business has on the environment. We started the ball rolling by achieving zero to landfill at Deli Solutions followed by Winterbotham Darby. This was recognised by the Green Apple, Gold award. With further hard work and staff commitment we’ve now had these efforts recognised with our Carbon Trust certification and benchmarking.”
