Clitheroe receives RoSPA silver award for health and safety achievements
Our site in Clitheroe, is celebrating after landing an internationally-recognised silver award for demonstrating high health and safety standards. They have received a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) ‘Silver’ Health and Safety Award for working hard to ensure staff / customers / clients / contractors get home safely to their families at the end of every working day.
Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running H&S industry awards.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Qualifications, Awards and Events, said:
“The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations around the world, making it one of the most sought-after global accolades in health and safety. RoSPA wants every employee, wherever they are, to work safe in the knowledge that they will be going home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere. Currently, around 7 million people are directly impacted by the RoSPA Awards, but the scheme’s influence is even wider.”
This is a fantastic accolade for the site who produce over 40 million pots of olives and antipasti annually into all the major UK supermarkets. Jim Browne, Operations Director says;
“This award is recognition of the high levels of H&S in practice across our 250-strong employee site. Staff engagement and compliance has been a major factor to our success resulting in a continual reduction of accidents, underlying how integral the health & safety of our staff is to our business. This is demonstrated by the continued reduction in accidents over the space of the year. Something we are all incredibly proud of.“
This H&S award is hot on the heels of a recently announced International Safety Awards Merit by the British Safety Council in March 2020.
